Overview

Your own growth factors, concentrated.

GFC stands for growth factor concentrate. A small sample of your blood is taken and processed to release and concentrate the growth factors held in your platelets. That concentrate is then placed across the areas of the scalp where hair is thinning.

It works on follicles that are still active, not on scalp that has gone bare. In suitable candidates it may help hair look fuller and reduce shedding over a course, but results vary and no treatment can promise to stop hair loss completely. Whether GFC or PRP suits you better is decided at consultation, and nothing is sold to you on the day.

  • Made from your own blood, nothing synthetic
  • May help thinning hair look fuller in suitable candidates
  • Works on follicles that are still active
  • Planned as a course of three or six
  • Progress reviewed at every visit
  • Consultation and assessment first

Before & after

What a course can change.

These are illustrations, simulated to show the kind of change a course aims for — they are not patient photographs. Response to hair treatment varies a great deal from person to person, so what is realistic for you is set out honestly at consultation.

The treatment

How a course actually runs.

The same three steps every time, for GFC as for everything else we do.

Step 01

Assessed, not sold to

A clinician looks at your skin or scalp, takes your medical history in person and tells you honestly what will — and will not — help. If the answer is “nothing yet”, that is what you will hear.

Step 02

Tested, then treated

Where a treatment needs one, a small area is tested first so the settings are chosen for your skin rather than guessed. Your plan, session count and total cost are agreed in writing before anything starts.

Step 03

Aftercare you can call on

You leave with written aftercare and a number to ring. A review is booked to check progress and adjust the plan if it needs it — that is where a course gets better, not on the first day.

Questions

Good to know.

Short answers to what people ask before booking GFC.

What is GFC for hair?

GFC stands for growth factor concentrate. A small sample of your own blood is processed to concentrate the growth factors from your platelets, which are then placed across the thinning areas of the scalp.

How is it different from PRP?

Both are made from your own blood. GFC concentrates the growth factors themselves rather than the whole platelets. Which one suits you is decided at consultation.

Will it work for me?

It may help hair density in suitable candidates, but it works on follicles that are still active — it will not regrow hair from a scalp that has gone bare, and results vary. A clinician assesses your scalp at the consultation and tells you honestly whether it is worth doing.

How many sessions will I need?

Courses run to three or six sessions. You get a realistic number at consultation, agreed in writing before you start.

How much is the consultation?

Yes, and there is no obligation to book afterwards. If GFC will not help you, you will hear that.
