A course

Sessions weeks apart

Overview

Faded over a course.

Short laser pulses break tattoo ink into smaller particles, which your body then clears away gradually over the following weeks. That is why tattoo removal is a course of sessions spaced weeks apart, not a single visit.

How many sessions you need depends on the size of the tattoo, its colours, how deep and how old the ink is, and your skin type. Some colours fade more readily than others, and complete removal cannot be promised — your clinician gives you an honest estimate before you commit.

The treatment

How a course actually runs.

The same three steps every time, for laser tattoo removal as for everything else we do.

Step 01

Assessed, not sold to

A clinician looks at your skin, takes your medical history in person and tells you honestly what will — and will not — help. If the answer is “nothing yet”, that is what you will hear.

Step 02

Tested, then treated

Where a treatment needs one, a small area is tested first so the settings are chosen for your skin rather than guessed. Your plan, session count and total cost are agreed in writing before anything starts.

Step 03

Aftercare you can call on

You leave with written aftercare and a number to ring. A review is booked to check progress and adjust the plan if it needs it — that is where a course gets better, not on the first day.

Before & after

What a course can change.

These are illustrations, simulated to show the kind of fading a course aims for — they are not patient photographs. Complete removal cannot be promised and results vary with the size, colours and age of the tattoo, so what is realistic for yours is set out honestly at consultation.

Questions

Good to know.

Short answers to what people ask before booking laser tattoo removal.

Speak to the clinic

+44 7487 416555
Can every tattoo be removed completely?

Not always, and we will not promise it. Many tattoos fade a great deal; some colours and some inks resist. You get an honest view of what is realistic for your tattoo at consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on size, colour, depth, age and skin type. Sessions are spaced weeks apart so your body can clear the ink in between, and a realistic number is agreed in writing before you start.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful, a little like an elastic band snapping against the skin. Your clinician will talk you through how the area is kept as comfortable as possible.

Is it safe on darker skin tones?

It can be, with settings chosen specifically for richer skin tones, because there is a risk of lighter or darker patches. We assess this and patch test first, every time.

What happens afterwards?

Redness, swelling and sometimes blistering over the treated area are expected for a short time. You leave with written aftercare and a number to ring.
