Overview
Pigment, treated gradually.
Pigmentation covers several different things — sun damage, freckles, post-inflammatory marks and melasma all behave differently, and telling them apart is the first job of the consultation.
Which treatment suits you depends on the type of pigment, how deep it sits and your skin type, so the plan is set after an individual assessment. Most pigment responds better to repeated gentle treatment than to one strong session, particularly on richer skin tones, where the wrong setting can make it worse. That is why we patch test first, every time.
- Sun spots, freckles and uneven tone
- The type of pigment identified first
- Repeated gentle passes rather than one strong one
- Patch test before the first session
- Richer skin tones assessed specifically
- Plan and course length agreed in writing
Treatment options
Chosen for the type of pigment.
Pigment can return, particularly with sun exposure, so none of these is a permanent fix — the aim is a visible, lasting improvement you can maintain.
Laser treatment
- Laser toning for uneven tone and some types of pigment
- Erbium:YAG laser, where your clinician judges it suitable for your pigment and skin type
- Settings chosen for your skin type, after a patch test
- More on laser toning and Erbium:YAG laser
Chemical peels
- Medical-grade peels to lift surface pigment gradually
- Strength chosen for your skin tone
- More on power peels
Skin boosters
- Only where skin quality is part of the concern
- Not a treatment for pigment on their own
- More on skin boosters
Between sessions
- Daily sun protection, which matters as much as the treatment
- Home care your clinician advises for your pigment type
The treatment
How a course actually runs.
The same three steps every time, for dark spots / pigmentation as for everything else we do.
Step 01
Assessed, not sold to
A clinician looks at your skin or scalp, takes your medical history in person and tells you honestly what will — and will not — help. If the answer is “nothing yet”, that is what you will hear.
Step 02
Tested, then treated
Where a treatment needs one, a small area is tested first so the settings are chosen for your skin rather than guessed. Your plan, session count and total cost are agreed in writing before anything starts.
Step 03
Aftercare you can call on
You leave with written aftercare and a number to ring. A review is booked to check progress and adjust the plan if it needs it — that is where a course gets better, not on the first day.

Real patients, real results.

Prices
Why pigmentation is priced at consultation.
Different types of pigment need different treatments and session counts, so a clinician identifies yours first and gives you the total in writing before anything is booked.
- Pigment type identified before anything is priced
- Total agreed in writing before treatment
- £50 consultation, no obligation
- Patch test before the first session
Questions
Good to know.
Short answers to what people ask before booking dark spots / pigmentation.
Speak to the clinic
+44 7487 416555What kinds of pigmentation do you treat?
Sun spots, freckles, uneven tone and post-inflammatory marks. Melasma behaves differently and has its own page.
Is laser safe on darker skin tones?
Yes, when it is set correctly — and that is exactly the point. The wrong setting can make pigment worse rather than better, which is why we assess skin type and patch test first, every time.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the type of pigment and your skin. A realistic number is agreed in writing at consultation, and progress is reviewed as you go.
Will it come back?
Some pigment is prone to returning, especially with sun exposure. Your clinician will be honest about that at consultation rather than afterwards.
What are the risks?
Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin is the specific risk with pigment work, which is why the patch test matters. The full risks for your skin are given to you in writing.
